Never Ending Birthday Card

Good morning!

I’ve taken the day off work as I have multiple medical appointments scheduled today.  Just routine women’s stuff;  nothing serious.  So between appointments I decided to go ahead and post my card that I have created this week.  You probably won’t hear from me this weekend.  I saw a video for this card on a facebook page to which I belong.  So, I can’t take credit for it. (Wish I could!)  I fell in love with it immediately, so I wanted to get one made and share it as soon as I could.  It’s called the never ending card because you can keep opening it and opening it and opening it at…

Here it is!

Ready to start all over again…

Never Ending 1

So, I know you want to know how to make this card.  Hope you can follow my directions!

Step 1:  Cut two pieces of card stock each measuring 5 1/2″ x 4 1/4″. (See photo below.)

Never Ending Card - 1

Step 2:  For the top portion of your card, use your paper trimmer and score each long edge at 1-1/16″.  Do this by placing the 4-1/4″ edge at the top of your paper trimmer.  (See photo below.)

Never Ending Card - 2

Step 3:  After making both score lines along the long edges of the card, turn your card stock so that a long edge (5 – 1/2″ edge)  is at the top of your paper trimmer and cut it in half at 2-3/4″.  You now have two pieces of card stock measuring 2-1/8″ x 5-1/2″ that you will use for the top of your card. (See photo below.)

Never Ending Card - 4

Step 4:  For the bottom portion of your card, take the other 4-1/4″ x 5-1/2″ piece of card stock and place a long edge (5-1/2″ edge)  at the top of your paper trimmer.  Score along each narrow edge  at 1-3/8″.   (See photo below.)

Never Ending Card - 3

Step 5:  After making your score lines along the short edges of your card stock,  flip the card stock so a 4 1/4″ edge is along the top of your paper trimmer.  Cut the card stock in half at 2-1/8″.  You will now have two piece of card stock measuring 2-1/8″ by 5-1/2″. (See photo below.)

Never Ending Card - 5

Step 6:  Fold along all score lines in both directions.

Step 7:  Lay both of the top pieces on the table in front of you, making sure to line up the score lines.   Add a piece of sticky strip to each corner as shown in the photo below.

Never Ending Card - 7

Step 8:  Attach both bottom pieces as shown below.

Never Ending Card - 8

Step 9:  After both bottom pieces are attached, flip the card over. This is the top (front) of the card.

Never Ending Card - 12

Step 10:  Open the card and smooth down the folds with a bone folder.  In  the next  photo below, I turned the card 1/4 turn so the 5-1/2″ edge is at the top of the photo.

Never Ending Card - 9

Never Ending Card - 10

Step 11:  Continue opening the card and smoothing folds.  Eventually, as you continue to open the card, you will return to the front of the card.

Never Ending Card - 11

Step 12:  Decorate the card any way you choose.

If you have any questions about this, please feel free to email me.  Some day soon I will begin doing video tutorials instead of photo tutorials.  I just need a little more time in the day, and I need to learn how to do it.  I’m sure it isn’t difficult.

Hope you enjoyed your visit here today.  Until next time…

Happy Stamping!

Oh, Wow!

Wow!  It has been a little while since I put anything new here.  Since last weekend was a three-day weekend, you wouldn’t think that would be the case.  One would think that I had extra time off so it would  have been easy to post something new.  But, no.  When I have an extra day, I fall into the trap of thinking I have all the time in the world, and then very little gets accomplished.  So today, I will post two things.  The first is the Valentine I made for some of my work friends.  It was a simple little Ghirardelli candy holder that I made using the envelope punch board.

The other card I want to share is one that I created for an upcoming crop I am doing with my principal at my school.  The crop is a fundraiser for one of the clubs, and the principal asked me to do a make-n-take.  It is a simple little notecard that measures 3 1/2″ by 5″.

Gift Bow Bigz Die Angel

Hello, hello!  Hope all is well with everyone.  The weekend has flown by, and I find myself wondering where it has gone.  I am looking forward to the day, (only 6 more months) when every day will be like a weekend!

You may have already seen elsewhere what I am about to show you.  It is an angel ornament made using the Bigz Bow Die.  Someone had mentioned the thought of making an angel using this die and I looked for a video on You Tube and found one.  I clicked on the first link I found, and it was a video posted by Tanya Bell from Australia, who said she got the idea from somewhere else.  I wish I had come up with this idea all on my own.  Her website is stampingt.com.au if you want to visit it or the link for the You Tube video is here at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L1V168XIh4o.

Any way, here are the photos of what I made.

Finally Done!

Finally!  I finished my Christmas banner today.  It was a long time in coming.  When I first started it, I was spraying my ink over the stencils that come in the kit and I had ONE BIG MESS!!!!  A friend of mine told me to use a sponge and it turned out much much better.  I must say myself that I LOVE IT!  My husband asked why it wasn’t “Christmas colors”  as in the traditional colors of red and green, but I like these two shades of blue for Christmas too.  I think they look very elegant.  You tell me what you think.

Here’s the full banner.  If you click on it, it will enlarge.

Christmas Banner-Full

And the next two shots are the banner from either end.

Christmas Banner-1

Christmas Banner-2

The second two photos are a little larger, but they will enlarge as well when you click on them.

Here’s what I used to create this beauty.

Build a Banner Simply Created Kit  133507

Kit includes:

Pennants and accessories for creating custom banners.

Includes 18  5″ x 7″ blank canvas paper pennants, 6 ea. of 3 designs

9′ of jute twine

alphabet and image stencils

Stampin Spritzer.

Christmas Banner Simply Created Accessory Kit  132697

Kit includes:

Paper and centers for 4 rosettes

3 glittered die-cut accents

2 18″ pieces of Silver 1/8″ Ribbon

2 18″ pieces of Bermuda Bay/Pool Party 1-1/4″ Two Toned Ribbon

36″ of Whisper White 3/8″ Taffeta Ribbon

5 Vintage Faceted Designer Buttons

10 Large Rhinestone Jewels

Other things you will need to assemble this project are a hot glue gun with glue sticks and glue dots.  Careful with the hot glue gun…it really gets hot!  I managed to burn and blister two fingers and the palm of my hand with the hot glue.  Oh, and another thing would be sponge daubers or sponges for spreading the ink onto the canvas.

On a sad note, the next item I am sharing is a sympathy card I recently made for a former coworker that passed away recently after a long, hard fought battle with cancer.  He retired about 4 years after I took my current position, and he was a great help in my making the transition from private to public education.  He will always be remembered.  I used the Thoughts & Prayers stamp set.  Item number  128751-w/127805-c.  The card stock I used is Early Espresso (119686), Coastal Cabana ( 131297), and Very Vanilla (115318).  I also used the Early Espresso Stampin’ Write Marker and the Coastal Cabana Stampin’ Write Marker, along with Pearl Basic Jewels (119247).  The ribbon is Very Vanilla 3/8″ Taffeta.

Thoughts & Prayers Sympathy

Hope you enjoyed your stop here today.  Until next time…
