Falling Flowers Sympathy Card

Hello Stampers!

I am sure you think I forgot all about you, but I haven’t.  I’ve just been feeling a little unmotivated the last week or so and I have accomplished little.  I think that feeling is gone for a while.  I went to the gym this morning which is something I barely did last week.  Saturday go be back into the swing of things.  My son and I spent the day together.  It started with brunch, then shopping, then a nice long walk.  I tried to get him to stay for dinner but he had other things to do.  Anyway, his medicine was just what I needed to re-energize.

I have a card for you today.  I made it a month or so ago.  I’ve needed way too many of these cards this past month and a half.  Sad.  It is a simple one that can be whipped up in no time, and it is made with another of one of my favorite stamp sets; Falling Flowers.  You can find it in the Annual Catalog.

I am sorry about the light glare in the top right corner.  Try as I might, I was not able to get rid of it.  This card is made with Kraft Card Stock.  The base measures 4 1/4″ x 11″.  It is a top folding card.  The top layer is attached with Stampin’ Dimensionals, and it measures 4″ x 5 1/4″.  The banner is 1/2″ wide and is wrapped around the top layer and stapled.

There is not much more I can offer on this card, other than I used the oldie but goodie stamp set, Teeny Tiny Wishes.  EVERYONE should have that one.  ! Hope you like it!  Until next time…

Happy Stamping!

Don’t Count the Years…Count Your Blessings

f943dcbe8059876d8ebe2f7226e3cf16

Yesterday, I celebrated a milestone birthday.  I turned 60!  The day before my birthday, I sat for a moment and contemplated the upcoming event.  It suddenly dawned on me that I was turning 60!  “How in the world did that happen?” I wondered incredulously.

I have never been one to dread an upcoming birthday except for when I turned 27.  Shortly thereafter, I learned I was pregnant with my first child.  Whacky hormones! A birthday is just a reminder that we’ve been blessed with another year of living.  The alternative is far worse!

When I was younger, I often wondered what it would feel like to be “old”?  Right now, at this very moment I feel accomplished.  Oh sure, there are those days when there is an extra ache or pain or one of my moving parts doesn’t move quite right.  But, for the most part…accomplished is a word I would use to describe how it feels to be 60.

When I look back at my life, I see all of the things I have accomplished!  Look…here’s a list.  I earned a Bachelor’s degree, married, served four years in the military in Europe and traveled Europe. I traveled to Italy four times, had two children, and divorced. I have traveled and lived all over the United States, owned my own home, raised my children, and helped send them to college.  I went back to school and earned a teaching license, taught, remarried, earned a Master’s Degree and retired from teaching.  I have traveled to Alaska, Hawaii, and Mexico three times.  There was some fun in there, but there was a lot of hard work in there too…so yes, I feel accomplished!  At 60, you feel accomplished because now I am beginning to see some of the fruits of my work.

In my life, I’ve not always said and done the right thing, but I have learned from my mistakes.  I sometimes think I’ve arrived at 60 just by chance.  Other times, I have said and done all of the right things and played everything by the book and I still think it has been God’s grace that has delivered me to this place right now.

I have lived a full life these past 60 years.   I’ve loved and lost.  Some of those I’ve loved I’ve lost through either death, or moving, or other unfortunate circumstances.  But, I have grown.  I have grown spiritually and emotionally, and I have matured into an adult.  Although some days I am as if a child in awe of the many blessings, I have received.  What did I do to deserve so much good?

I have my health, my husband, my children, grandchildren,  extended family and friends. I am loved.  I have food to eat and a warm place to live.  I’ve traveled and look forward to more.  I was blessed with the opportunity to do rewarding work as a member of the military, a mother, and teacher.

How did I get to 60?  I have lived!   And,  I have the bumps and scrapes and scars to prove it! Yet, there is so much more to live for.

Here is to another 60!

CHEERS!

Watercolored Hey, Chick

As I said in my last post, I am a chicken lover!   (I’ve been told the first step to recovery is admitting your addiction.)  So it only stands to reason that I love this stamp set.  If it has anything to do with chickens or roosters,  it is for me!    Especially vintage and antique roosters and chickens.  Two former students got me started on collecting them a few years ago.  Their names are Matt and Brooke, a brother and sister team.  They were both in the same 8th grade class as my son.  (Yes, I taught my own children in middle school and I tell them it was equally painful for me as it was for them.)  🙂  They gave me a set of three decorative plates with roosters on them.  I hung them in my kitchen, and it has been downhill ever since.  That was about 15 years ago, so that is a long time to collect a lot of chickens!  My husbands famous words are, “Just what you need, another chicken!”

This chicken set is a Sale-a-braton set.  With any $50.00 purchase in my online store, you can get it too.

Isn’t this sweet?  I love these little guys, and I’ve created a video just for you so you can make a card just like this one.  Hope you enjoy it!

Here are some other FREE Sale-a-bration items you can have when you spend $50.00 in my online store.

Hey Chick!

It is a cold and cloudy day today here in Colorado.  A good day to stamp!  So I thought I’d share a little of what I’ve been working on with you.

This card is made with a Sale-A-Bration set,  and as far as I am concerned, it is a must have!  Hey Chick is such a cute set.  Being an avid chicken collector (I collect vintage and antique roosters), I was sure to get this set first.

hey-chick-1

I like this chicken because it sort of looks like my hair when I get out of bed in the morning.  It is usually standing straight up on the left side, and this guys hair reminded me of…me!   LOL!  The only difference is my hair isn’t blue and my body isn’t yellow and I don’t have tail feathers.  My husband would tell you otherwise because says I am always getting my tail feathers in a ruffle.  🙂

Here is a graphic of the other stamps in the set.

hey-chick-stamp-setIt is yours free with any $50.00 purchase from my online store. Or you can get one of the following other items.

When I made this card, I used a 8 1/2″ x 5 1/2″ piece of Soft Suede card stock for the base.  The designer series paper is from the Neutrals Designer Series Paper Stack.  The striped piece measures 2 1/2″ x 5 ” and the dotted piece is 2 1/4″ x 4 1/4″.  The top piece of Soft Suede card stock measures 2 1/4″ x 3 1/4″ and the Whisper White piece upon which I stamped measure 2″ x 3″.  I added a piece of Whisper White card stock that measures 4″ x 5 1/4″ to the inside so that I could write a note of thanks in there for a special lady.

I hope  you enjoyed your visit here today.  It was short and I hope sweet!  Until next time

Happy Stamping!
