An Announcement

Hello All!

I’ve been absent a while and I apologize. But I do have some exciting news to share with all of you.  I’ve been honored with the opportunity to become a part of Splitcoast Stampers Dirty Dozen Design Team!

My term runs for 6 months beginning in July of this year and ending in December.  My task is to create 6 theme centered cards each month and to post them to Splitcoast’s Fan Club Gallery.  Unfortunately, part of the agreement is to not share the cards I create anywhere else.  But, once the 6 months is up, I promise I will share everything with all of you.  Also

I’m sure I will be making more than the required 6 cards each month as I plan to continue with holding my monthly classes.

Just wanted to share my exciting news!

Until next time…

Happy Stamping!

Alcohol Markers on Acetate Technique with Seaside Wishes

Hello Stampers,

In case you haven’t noticed, I have not been around for the past two months.  I’ve been busy with a few things including some time for stamping.  In March, my friend and I went to Houston for the most recent On Stage 2024 event and this past month my sister and brother-in-law visited, and we went to Puerto Vallarta for a week of ocean, sun, and sand…and a margarita here and there!  🙂  The weather was awesome, the food was delicioso, and the company was excellent!  While we were there, Colorado got a little snow and had a few cold days, so it made the visit south even more worthwhile.

Before I left, I did manage to create a technique video using alcohol markers on acetate.  It is a technique that was presented at On Stage that I personally had never seen before and I thought it was absolutely wonderful!  It’s simply amazing how you can create various different backgrounds using this technique.  So in keeping with the beach theme of my most recent vacation, I used Seaside Wishes stamp set and a few of the new in colors that will be available for purchase in the new Annual Catalog that goes live on May 1 (today)!

Hope you enjoy the video.  A project sheet for this card is available after the video.

Floating Circle Technique with Encircled in Nature

Hi Stampers!

Hope all of you are well and in good spirits and not letting this crazy weather get you down!

How beautiful is this Perennial Lavender Designers Series Paper?  Have I told all of you how much I LOVE the color purple?  It is such a regal color and the colors in this DSP…in this card are definitely magnificent! On this card, I created a floating circle with the Perennial Lavender DSP and paired it with the online exclusive die called Encircled in Nature.  Now, it you decide you want the die, you absolutely have to get the Encircled in Nature stamp set to go with it!

I created a video explaining the floating circle technique and how to create this card.  I hope you enjoy watching it and making this project as much as I did making it.  I have a hard time talking and working at the same time, so please be patient with some of the long pauses through out the video as I search for words and try to stamp at the same time.  I had a college professor tell me once that the lack of estorgen in our bodies after a certain age is what causes us to “search” for words.  So…that’s my excuse and I’m sticking to it.

The Encircled in Nature stamp set and die is available TODAY in my online store.

There is a link for a project sheet at the end of this post.

Another Easter card I made using the same dies.  No floating circle on this one.  It’s hard to see in the photo, but I did use a blending brush to add some Pool Party ink to the center of the circle.

My Mother’s Hands & Painted Lavender for Mother’s Day

Hi Stampers!

There is a lot to look at in this post.  So… I hope you have the time to spend a little while.

I’ve written a poem and created a card for Mother’s Day.  I know the idea for the poem isn’t a new one.  But it’s about someone dear to me.  She will be 93 years old the Sunday after Mother’s Day and I cherish every moment I get with her. Not everyone is as lucky as I.   Unfortunately, she lives 12oo miles away from me, but my goal is to visit at least every 6 months, if not more.

My Mother’s Hands

When I think of hands, I think of my mother’s hands.

Freckled hands.

They are hands that washed clothing in the river in Italy.

Hands that weaved grass into cloth as a young girl and then the cloth into clothing later.

Hands that mended that clothing.

Hands that fetched water in a Conga from the village well in Villa S’ Angelo in L’Aquila and carried it back home balanced on her head.

Hands that survived WWII in Italy.

Hands that planted,  harvested and canned.

Hands that cleaned and swept.

Feminine hands.

Healing and loving, and caring hands.

They are hands that have soothed crying babies, changed hundreds of diapers.

Hands that held two of her own children,  five grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren.

They are hands that have held those of the sick and dying.

Hands that have buried a brother, a mother, a father,  and a husband of over 50 years.

Hands that have prepared massive meals for the holidays and simple meals for every day.

Hands that have baked hundreds of cookies for weddings and holidays

Hands that baked bread every week for her growing family.

Hands that rocked me.

They are the hands that helped me dress, tie my shoes, and wipe my nose.

They are the hands that taught me.

Hands that nursed my wounds.

Hands that lifted me up.

Hands that disciplined.

They are the hands that encouraged me and sustained me.

Praying hands.

Clapping hands.

Wringing hands.

Age-spotted hands.

Wrinkled hands.

Old hands, yet

Beautiful hands.

When I look at my hands, my only wish is that they will be like my mother’s hands.

So, of course I have to include a picture of a Conga.  I have a miniture of one of these that I got in Italy when visiting my mom’s home town.  I found the photo on the following website.  http://www.italyrevisited.org/photo/Country_Antiques

Also, at the risk of boring my audience, I’m including some photos of Mother’s hands at work baking her specialty.

So now, onto my card.

I absolutely love the Painted Lavender Suite!  The colors are to die for!  Purple is absolutely my favorite color and this suite is perfect if you are a purple lover.  As I say in the video, I got the idea for this card from a card one of my dearest friends made for me for my birthday last week.  She used the Flight and Airy Designer Series Paper that is in the current Sale-a-bration catalog and it can be your’s too with any $50.00 purchase from my online store at Stampin’ Up!

Here is my friend Sharon’s card:

I think it is absolutely beautiful!  Her card gave me the idea for the one I created using the Painted Lavender Suite. I hope you like it and you enjoy the video.

Here is another pretty handmade card that I got from another long time friend. It’s simple, but elegant.  Don’t you think?

Hope you enjoyed your visit here today.  Until next time…
