Grateful Chalk Talk

Just got in from shoveling the 6″ worth of snow we got Thursday night and yesterday during the day.  Six inches of snow isn’t a great deal by any account…not here in Colorado anyway.  I understand the mountains got feet of snow in the last 24 hours.  If you look at my hometown, which is Youngstown, Ohio and Colorado Springs, CO, where I have lived for the past 20 plus years, I think my hometown gets more snow than we do, if you don’t count what the mountains get.  This was a heavy snow; my back can attest to that.  And this snowstorm cause havoc on the roads yesterday, especially during the afternoon rush.  One of the major roads through town was closed in spots according to the local news, because it was so slick.  I am surprised more schools weren’t closed.  Some didn’t even have a two-hour delay, which I thought was a little ridiculous!  But I don’t make the decisions.  I am just one of the peons that follows whatever the people at the top decides…usually.  🙂

The card I am sharing today features some really cool Occasions Catalog stuff like the Watercolor Wonders Designer Series Paper and the Hexagon Hive Thinlits Die.  I think both are my new favorites.

Just Sayin’…You’re the Best & Sale-a-bration Sneak Peak

Last weekend was a three-day weekend for me, and I was sure I would get to post something here, buy you know what they say about the “best-laid plans of mice and men”!  That saying, by the way, comes from Robert Burns’ poem “To a Mouse”.  Not that it is important, but I just let the English teacher come out of me a little and I had to know.  🙂

Back to last weekend,  I drove to Ft. Collins, Colorado (over 130 miles north of here) last Saturday to visit my daughter and to spend the day.  I didn’t get out of bed early enough to get there much before noon, so we didn’t get to do too much.  But, we did have a nice lunch together downtown and we got a little shopping done.  I drove home the very same day.  I’ve decided that is way too much driving for one day, so the next time I go,  I will spend the night.  The rest of the weekend was spent getting caught up around the house and ready to head back to work on Tuesday.

For a four-day work week, it sure was a long one.  By the time I got home on Thursday, I was ready for at least 12 hours of sleep which meant I needed to head to bed at 5:00 p.m.  I did exactly that!  I hadn’t done that in weeks, and I so desperately needed it!  I felt great yesterday…just hopped right out of bed at 5:00 a.m.!  And I am still feeling the effects of the extra rest I seemed to need.

The photo of the card I am sharing with you today is deceiving.  The card is a 3″ x 5″ note card, but the photo makes it look larger.  I wanted a little note card size thing for a make-and-take project that I will use at an upcoming crop that I will be doing.  I also wanted it to be quick and simple, so you won’t find many layers.   I used a lot of new stuff on it, including things from Sale-A-Bration which starts on Monday!  Here it is!

Birthday, Thoughts of You, Best Friend and a Sneak Peak!

I have been a busy little girls this week.  I managed to crank out three different cards…I am so proud of myself!  One of them features some of the new stuff from Stampin‘ Up! that will appear in the  Annual Catalog  that goes up and running on June 3.  I can’t wait for that!  There is soooo much in that catalog, I think I want all of it!

This first card is one I made for my mom.  She is a lucky girls because she gets to celebrate Mother’s Day and her birthday in the same month.  As my mom says, “Every day should be Mother’s Day.” I agree wholeheartedly!  We should treat our mom’s with all of the love and respect they deserve EVERY DAY!  I hope I have done that for her, because she deserves it.  But, I can’t let Mother’s Day go by without a card.  So, I sent her the card that I posted a few weeks back.  You can see it on my April 20th post. This card is the birthday card I sent. Here it is.  This card also gives you a little sneak peek at one of the stamp sets, embossing folders, punches, and dsp that will be in the new catalog
