You’re A Star

So we are down to our last week at school starting tomorrow. The kids will be finished on Thursday, but it will be like everyone is on vacation already because half the school will be out on a field trip on Tuesday and Wednesday and Thursday are half days. I have to say that this is “The most wonderful time of the year!” And y’all thought it was Christmas! 🙂 You haven’t taught middle school for the last 17 years, have you?! Seriously, I love all of my students and there are many that I will truly miss. I wish them all much luck as they move on to high school next year. Some will need it more than others! But I love them and I wish them luck.

Speaking of students, on their last day this coming Thursday, we will have our annual awards assembly and since I have the privilege of teaching the Advanced Eighth Grade Language Arts class, I also have the privilege and honor of presenting the Outstanding Language Arts Student Award to the…yup…you guessed it…outstanding Language Arts student. The student will receive the standard award certificate, but I also like to include a small gift card to a book seller in the area. Nine times out of then, the student spends it on music instead of a book, but that is okay. After reading 100 persuasive essays last week on why students should be allowed to listen to music at school, I am convinced that music is an important part of life. And part of being awarded is getting something you want, right? So, I made this card to give to the student with the gift card inside.

I cased this card from my up line, Kimberly VanDiepen, only I left off the frilly stuff and changed up the colors because the award recipient is a guy and I know he will appreciate that I did that. 🙂
